When the Norwegian Powerlifting Federation prepared the bid for the Worlds 2006 in Stavanger, we already knew that the municipal of Stavanger supported the bid. If a serious sports federation would like to arrange championships in the city of Stavanger, the management of “Sports & Culture” in Stavanger, are known to be a very collaborating department.

Harald Figved

Harald Figved, the manager of “Sports and arrangements department" in the municipal of Stavanger, has  become a member of the WC-2006 committee, without any close connection to the sport of powerlifting. Harald and the custodian of arena Stavanger Idrettshall, Tormod Hatteland, even went to the Womens Worlds in Ylitornio earlier this year to learn about powerlifting and how to arrange a competition.

Harald has recently informed us that the municipal of Stavanger has responded the WC-committees application, and they have decided to support the Men & Womens World Championships 2006 with 300.000 Norwegian kroner.

The municipal of Stavanger were appointed by the Norwegian Sports Federation to the most supportive city of sports in 2003, well-deserved as you can understand.
