The Norwegian Powerlifting Federation welcomes you to
Norway
and the South West Region
 |
As part of Scandinavia, Norway
is the land of fjords and glaciers. Norway has a long tradition of hard
physical work building the country from scree to agricultural farm land.
The
Norwegian spirit has been to develop the country and at the same time
conserve the magnificent nature of this land.
Rogaland County is located in the south-western corner of Norway. The
landscape goes from beautiful beaches through lowland, to mountains and
fjords. |
| The main city of Rogaland is Stavanger, also called ”the oil capital of
Norway”. The North Sea has always been
important to Stavanger, the main business of
the area is oil-related industry, trading and farming. Visitors
tend to fall in love with Stavanger, especially "Old Stavanger", a very
pretty and vibrant part of town. This area, near the international
ferries, is composed of small, wooden houses and cobble-stone roads.
Combine this with an international atmosphere which is blended with the
city's own charm. This part of Fjord Norway in
the county of Rogaland has many beautiful sights, mountains, picturesque
islands, waterfalls and plains.
Rogaland is a region with many cultural activities, sports being one of
the biggest. The region has many athletes in the Norwegian elite. The
major sports are football, athletics, cycling, rowing, karate and, of
course, powerlifting. |
